Securing your Cobot

Adding an operational mode password can prevent unwanted program actions from occurring with your welding cobot

When your welding cobot arrives from the Hirebotics factory, it does not have an operational mode password set. This means anyone can modify the preloaded program.

To prevent accidental changes to programs or installation files, we recommend securing the robot’s operational mode with a password, commonly referred to as the operator password.

Universal Robots supports two modes when an operator password is set:

  • Automatic – for running programs.

  • Manual – for programming and making changes.

Switching between these modes requires entering the operator password.

To learn more about managing your robot's administrator, operator, and safety passwords, see this article.

Follow along in the video below as we demonstrate how to set the operator password on a Universal Robots e-series robot.
