Learn how to convert your weld path to stitches using our Enhanced Stitch feature.

Our enhanced stitch feature allows you to convert any weld path into a stitches, giving you full flexibility and control over each segment. By converting a weld path to a stitch, you create subsections of welds, providing finer control over each part of the weld.

Key Terminology

Stitch Section: The entire length of a weld that has been broken into equal sized and evenly spaced welds by user specification.

Stitch Segment: A subsection of a stitch section, representing each individual weld within the section.

Stitch Length: The length of each individual stitch segment.

Stitch Pitch: The distance between the centers of each stitch segment.

Stitch Fitting: A feature that ensures the last stitch segment ends precisely at the path's endpoint.

Converting a Weld Path to a Stitch Section

Click the three horizontal dots next to the weld item you want to convert. (This must be the first item of a weld path.)

Click "Convert to Stitch".

A Stitch Settings modal will show up.

Input the Length and Pitch.

Using Stitch Fitting

The Beacon app pre-validates your inputs and adjusts the stitch settings to try and place the last segment so that it ends at the endpoint of the weld path. Locking a field (indicated by a blue, closed lock icon) prevents the app from modifying that field.

  • If you lock Length, the app will modify the Pitch. This can guarantee the stitches fit and end at the weld path's endpoint.

  • If you lock Pitch, the app will adjust the Length. This cannot guarantee an exact fit. In the case the length should be reduced to fit the path, it will not shorten the length to preserve the strength of the weld.

If you lock both settings, the app will not modify the Length nor the Pitch, preserving your exact input values.

Be sure to check the generated stitch segments with the arc off first.

Click "Convert to Stitch" to finalize the conversion.

Note: Converting a weld path to a stitch is not irreversible. You can undo or edit a stitch after it's created.

Note: All weld items created within a stitch will utilize the settings from the first weld item. You can edit each weld individually if needed.

You will now have a new Stitch Section with subsections of stitch segments. Each segment will be named referencing the section.

Understanding the Stitch Structure

After converting, a Stitch Section will be created with individual stitch segments. For example, a Stitch Section with three segments will contain the following:

  • A section named numerically based on existing sections (e.g., "Stitch 2" if another section already exists).

  • Three subsections (Stitch Segments) within the section named with a number corresponding to the Stitch Section and a letter corresponding to its position in the stitch (e.g., "Segment 1a", "Segment 1b", "Segment 1c").

You can modify individual weld items and reorder segments as needed within the Stitch Section.

Additional Stitch Actions

Undoing a Stitch

⚠️ Undoing a stitch will remove all items within the Stitch Section.

Click the settings icon on the Stitch Section.

Click the "Undo Stitch" icon.

Confirm the action to revert to the original weld items.

Editing a Stitch

Click the settings icon on the Stitch Section.

Click "Edit Stitch".

Adjust the Length or Pitch as needed.

Click "Replace Stitch".

Confirm you want to replace the stitch.

Copying a Stitch

Click the settings icon on the Stitch Section.

Click "Copy All".

Enter Teach Mode by clicking the wand icon.

Choose a new location for the copied section by clicking the green plus button.

Click the paste icon, then click "Paste".

Deleting a Stitch

⚠️ Deleting a stitch will remove the original weld items.

Click the settings icon on the Stitch Section.

Click "Delete All".

Confirm you want to delete the stitch.
