The Beacon app and your robot require internet access. We strongly recommend a hardline ethernet connection as it provides the most reliable connection. Below you can find information on networking requirements and how to verify your internet connection.

Internet Firewall Requirements

If your company uses a firewall then ensure you provide outbound access to the following domains and ports. Beacon does not require inbound ports to be open.

Most customers consult their IT department to ensure proper network access.

Minimally, the hirebotics domains must be allowed. For Beacon In-App Support then the intercom domains also must be allowed.

The asterisk in the domains denotes a wildcard which means to allow outbound access to all sub-domains. For example, *.hirebotics.io allows both api.hirebotics.io and files.hirebotics.io and any other sub-domain.

View and Configure Network Settings

On the teach pendant, open the Menu in the upper right.

Select Settings.

Select System > Network.

From this screen you can now configure the network based on your needs. If you see Network is connected then you know you have a valid network connection.

Unless your IT department has instructed you otherwise then select DHCP network method. Using a Static Address requires guidance from your IT department.
