This article is for robots running PolyScope 5.

Important

For security, never use a USB drive or files from untrusted sources. If in doubt, contact your IT department or Beacon Support.

Beacon Support may ask you to run a magic script to collect robot diagnostics. The diagnostics help Beacon Support troubleshoot network, software update, and other issues. This guide shows you how to run the Beacon Diagnostics magic script on your robot.

Before You Start

  • Have a computer to download the magic script file.

  • Have a USB drive to transfer the file to the robot.

Download the Magic Script File

  1. On a computer, download urmagic_beacon_diagnostics.sh.

If the file opens in your browser instead of downloading, right-click the link. Then choose Save Link As…. The menu name may differ by browser.

  2. Copy the file to your USB drive.

  3. Remove any other files from the USB drive.

Collect the Diagnostics

  1. Insert the USB drive into the port at the top of the teach pendant. The script starts on its own.

Do not remove the USB drive while the script is running.

  2. Look for ! USB ! on the teach pendant screen. It appears in large letters across the screen. The script is running.

  3. Wait for the message to change to <- USB. The script has finished.

No <- USB message after 5 minutes? Remove the USB drive, wait 10 seconds, then insert it again. If it still does not start, Magic File Support may be turned off on the teach pendant. See Magic Scripts Overview.

  4. Remove the USB drive from the teach pendant.

Share the Diagnostics with Beacon Support

  1. Insert the USB drive into a computer. You should see a zip file with a name starting with beacon_diagnostics_.

No zip file on the drive? Tap the Support menu in Beacon to send us a message. Attach the output.log file from the USB drive.

  2. Send the zip file to Beacon Support one of two ways:

Still Need Help?

Tap the Support menu in Beacon to send us a message.
