PolyScope X Control Box Upgrade

Upgrade your robot's controller from PolyScope 5 to PolyScope X

Requirements

  • Universal Robots Control Box 5.6

  • An internet connection for the initial setup

Step 1. Deactivate Robot

First, use the Beacon app to deactivate the robot being upgraded.

Step 2. Replace Control Box

Next, replace the old control box with the new one that supports PolyScope X.

1. Disconnect the teach pendant from the old control box. In a later step, you will reconnect the teach pendant to the new control box.

2. Disconnect the remaining wires from the old control box.

3. Unscrew the old control box from the legs, but leave the legs attached to the table.

4. Install the new control box to the legs.

5. Reconnect all wires and the teach pendant to the new control box. Be sure to use the new power cord provided.

6. Power on the new control box.

Step 3. Update PolyScope X

Review the article on updating the PolyScope X operating system to ensure the new control box is running the latest supported version.

Step 4. Install Beacon URCap

Review the article on installing the Beacon URCap to ensure the new control box is running the latest supported version.

Step 5. Reactivate Robot

Ensure you have the ethernet cable plugged in before proceeding and that the control box has been powered on.

1. On the teach pendant, navigate to the Operator menu to display the registration code.

2. Use the Beacon app to reactivate the robot with the registration code.

Note, it can take up to 30 seconds after registration before the screen reloads the Beacon app within it.
