This article is for robots running PolyScope X. If your robot runs PolyScope 5, see How to Install the Beacon URCap (PolyScope 5).
For security, never use a USB drive or files from untrusted sources. If in doubt, contact your IT department or Beacon Support.
The Beacon URCap lets you program your robot from a supported device without needing teach-pendant programming knowledge. You'll download the URCap to a USB drive, then install it on the teach pendant.
Already have a Beacon URCap installed? Uninstall the old version before you install this one.
Before You Start
Have a computer to download the URCap file.
Have a USB drive to transfer the file to the robot.
Step 1: Download the URCap
On a computer, download the Beacon URCap file.
Copy the file to your USB drive.
Make sure no other files are on the USB drive.
Step 2: Install on the Teach Pendant
Insert the USB drive into the port at the top of your robot's teach pendant.
On the teach pendant, open the menu, then tap System Manager.
Tap URCaps, then tap Unlock.
Enter the admin password (
beaconbot), then tap Confirm.
Tap +URCap.
Select the Beacon URCap file, then tap Confirm.
Tap Install.
Wait for the install to finish.
Close System Manager if it is still open.
Step 3: Switch to the Beacon Operator Screen
On the teach pendant, tap Application, then tap Operator Screen.
Tap Operator Screen, then choose Beacon.
Tap Operator.
Open the menu, then tap Reload.
How to Verify
After the reload, the teach pendant should show the Beacon operator screen. You may see up to two screens first — the Register Robot screen, a C203A0 safety fault, or both. Here's what each means:
Register Robot screen — your robot isn't registered yet. See How to Register a Robot.
C203A0safety fault — expected on a fresh install until safety settings are applied. See Troubleshooting C203A0 Safety Settings Mismatch (PolyScope X).
