How to Set Your Robot's Date and Time (PolyScope 5)

Set the date and time on a Universal Robots PolyScope 5 cobot. Beacon syncs the clock automatically when the robot is online, or you may set it manually on the teach pendant when the robot is offline.

This article is for robots running PolyScope 5. If your robot runs PolyScope X, see How to Set Your Robot's Date and Time (PolyScope X).

Your robot needs the correct date and time to connect to Beacon. If the clock is wrong, your robot may appear offline in the Beacon app. You may not be able to teach or play parts. The clock can drift after a factory reset or a long power-off.

When your robot is connected to the internet, Beacon sets the date and time automatically. If your robot is offline and the clock is wrong, you can set it yourself on the teach pendant.

Universal Robots use Denmark's time zone (Central European Time - CET or CEST). The robot's time zone can't be changed. Use a time zone converter to convert your local time before entering it.

Steps

  1. On the teach pendant, open the menu.

PolyScope 5 home screen with the menu icon highlighted

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Tap Time.

  4. In the Time section, use the + and - buttons to set the hour, minute, and second.

In the Date section, tap the current date and choose today from the calendar.

  5. Tap Apply and Restart.

How to Verify

After the robot restarts, the teach pendant clock shows the time you set, converted to Denmark's time zone. In the Beacon app, your robot should appear online again. Once it's online, Beacon keeps the clock synced from then on.
