How to Configure Network Settings (PolyScope 5)

Set up your Universal Robots cobot's network connection on PolyScope 5. Choose DHCP or a static IP so the robot can reach Beacon.

Written by Doug Ayers

This article is for robots running PolyScope 5. If your robot runs PolyScope X, see How to Configure Network Settings (PolyScope X).

Your robot needs a network connection to reach Beacon. This guide shows you how to set one up.

For the firewall domains and ports your IT department must allow, see Networking Requirements.

Steps

  1. On the teach pendant, open the menu, then tap Settings.

PolyScope 5 home screen with the menu open

  2. Tap System, then tap Network.

  3. Choose the DHCP network method, then tap Apply.

Unless your IT department tells you otherwise, choose the DHCP network method. A Static Address needs guidance from your IT department.

How to Verify

If you see the message Network is connected, the robot has a valid network connection. This does not, however, verify the outbound firewall rules. If the robot connects to the network but shows offline in Beacon, see Networking Requirements and ask your IT department to confirm the firewall rules.
