The SD card in the robot's cabinet works as the robot's hard drive and memory. If the card is loose, the robot may not start up. The card can move out of place when the robot is shipped. These steps work on both PolyScope 5 and PolyScope X.

Do this if the robot doesn't finish starting up. For example:

The teach pendant stays on <code>Booting</code>.

The teach pendant shows <code>Legacy Boot Device Not Found</code> or <code>No Option To Boot To</code>.

Turn the robot all the way off and unplug it before you open the robot's cabinet. Removing the SD card while the robot has power can damage the card.

Unplug the main power cable from the robot's cabinet. ​

Press and hold the power button on the teach pendant for 5 seconds.

This drains the remaining power from the robot and its cabinet. ​

Find the Do Not Remove label above the SD card slot. ​

Press the SD card in gently, then release it.

Push the SD card back in until it clicks into place. ​

Close the cabinet. Plug the main power cable back in. Then <a href="https://help.hirebotics.com/en/articles/5698478-how-to-power-on-power-off-or-restart-a-robot">power on the robot</a>.

The robot starts up and reaches the teach pendant home screen. ​

 The robot starts up and reaches the teach pendant home screen. ​

The problem comes back later: the SD card may be damaged. We can send you a replacement SD card.

Fix a Universal Robots cobot stuck on Booting or showing Legacy Boot Device Not Found. Remove and reinsert (reseat) the SD card in the robot's cabinet. A loose SD card, for example after shipping, can stop the robot from starting up.
